Gaining XP

Starting with Pulse #2 and Pulse #3, we'll adopt a following model of gaining XP.
  • Meaningful participation in GM-made IC threads gives you 5XP for each pair of them, once they are both wrapped.
  • The qualifying threads need to be consecutive. You can't claim the XP if you still post in any GM-made thread in between the finished ones.
  • If more than one thread per timeslot is allowed, only one qualifies for XP gain - you choose which.
  • Day 0 threads qualify for this.
  • Meaningful participation means having at least 10 posts in the thread in which the character does something: participates in dialogue, performs actions, makes rolls, engages the environment or their background with their thoughts. In effect, only stand-in posts, posting rolls without written content, and one-liners don't qualify. I trust you to make your own decisions which threads overall qualify.
  • XP so gained can be stored or used immediately, effective for chronologically later threads. This doesn't give the title for retconning rolls or other mechanics-supported approaches already made.
  • Mindful XP spending that is directly related to character's in-game experience is recommended. When in doubt, ask.
  • This is without prejudice to any extra XP GM can award for particular scenes/achievements/stages of the game.
  • I may decide that some threads are big/important enough to count double. This information will be included in the post closing the thread. I'll review older threads to make this modification when merited.
  • Please create an XP tracker thread in your PFs in which you demonstrate which pairs of threads have got you the XP, with links. If you do a day tracker, it can be there.

Continuity Bribe

In addition, the following is retroactively applicable.

For every past game in Duniverse your character was posting in until the last day, you are entitled to the continuity bribe. It is a talent of your choice from any tree of any value, with the following requirements and reservations.
  • In your PF in a separate thread, you make a journal entry for every IC thread you were in in that game with an embedded link and with a note about the memory or memories you character carried out of it. It can be short or long, it can even be AI-made if you don't feel like typing. I just want it to be there for quick reference. I don't intervene in the format as long as it is legible.
  • You successfully make a case that your character's overall experience of that game could lead to obtaining that particular talent.
  • You can't choose the same talent in this fashion more than once even if other rules allow it.
