"I hate to just say ditto, but..." Bernard gave a glance to his brother. "...Ditto. Getting some potential allies here can only aid us in dealing with the problems we're now dealing with. Don't know if it was them, but I did see some signs of human activity nearby our crashed thopter earlier; maybe it's them, maybe not. Though, I'm no expert on dealing with the Muadh, so hopefully we can figure something out. Really, though, I'd just settle on not stepping on their toes while we're out here."

"The generators of our thopter are damaged. One might be repaired at the expense of the other." Cuyler spoke up. "At the moment, my field kitchen is keeping the systems stable."

"Making contact with the Muadh to let them know what's happening if they're unawares sounds like a solid plan. But I'd also like to try and track that waterway upstream, see if we can track it back to the ones responsible. I'd hate to split up after we just regrouped, but we've got a lot to accomplish and not a lot of time."

"And they fly. So. Might be we don't want to be here in the morning."

"They fly, over water mostly. I doubt they'd favor hunting in a jungle with dense coverage list this. But I could be wrong."

"Obviously they followed prey in, but I don't seem them coming inland to hunt.

This is our area of interest, so we can't get too far away from it. Not for now at least.

The locals and our interlopers seem to be doing just fine hanging around here."

"Before or after they get served up as appetizers? We didn't see a single one of those things where we came down, following prey or not."

"Sure, we could go camp by our thopter, wake up with a colony of jungle ants working their way to your bones."

He turned to Razar, "Apologies sir, I forgot to include in my report. No signs of large, ground dwelling predators. We did come across a large colony of ants above ground. Terrible looking little critters."

"I'm not an ecological expert, but as I understand it, certain species of ant are far more dangerous than any large predators, turning animals to bone in their wake in a matter of minutes. But also, I wouldn't assume that we'd be able to spot some of the more capable hunters without trained eyes or specific equipment. Lydia should be able to help with that though. She's a capable survivalist and hunter," Razar says.

"As for speaking with the Muadh, I agree. If we can get in contact with them soon that would be ideal. Efren, I want you and Kiran to work on that, we'll decide on a team for that after we rest and determine who can be the best help for thopter repair. Because I really don't want to hike back."

He then looks to Laila, "So the manta birds don't go inland, which makes sense. They look like their built for sky and sea, and would probably be a sitting duck for predators if they got caught in the canopy. If I'd have known I would have put it closer to the tree line. Ifs and buts and all that though."

Looking at Efren, "If and when you contact the Muadh, I'm authorizing you to take part in negotiations on behalf of myself and the Lanvilles in the same capacity I have. Just try not to promise them the world. Resources like medicine and survival gear that they may not have easy access to should hopefully be useful for leveraging their capabilities in fair trade."

Efren nodded firmly and gave a clear, “Yes, sir.”

"Sir, what about allocating resources to following lead on the bodies back to the culprits? We may luck out and find them along the stream. Makes sense they would stay close to a source of fresh water and convenient waste disposal."

"That team will need to have a strong tracker, good instincts to know what trail to follow. Who here has any wilderness survival training besides Lydia?" Razar asks, curious if anyone else can do that.

"I have very little survival training, but I have some. I expect either of the two scouts you had in your thopter are better-suited than anyone in ours."

"That team will need to have a strong tracker, good instincts to know what trail to follow. Who here has any wilderness survival training besides Lydia?" Razar asks, curious if anyone else can do that.

"I have tracking and survival experience," Kiran said.

[Hadrian Martikova]

"I also have experience," Hadrian said, "Though I suspect I've been relegated to team fix it? If not, I'd likely be more helpful in a diplomatic fashion. I may still have a friend or two amongst the community."

"I'm not much of a tracker, sir." Bern says with a nod. "I can lead a expedition, but others would have to do the tracking proper."

"We'll have Kiran and Hadrian on one team and Lydia on another then. Well, let's decide a rotation and get some rest. Can't operate in the morning with no sleep," Razar says.
